The Nusa Timor Mandiri Foundation (YNTM) conducted a plant spraying activity on a garden belonging to the Hue Penu Farmers Group, located in Tes Village, RT 03 RW 03, North Bikomi District, North Central Timor Regency, on Monday (January 12, 2026).

This activity is part of YNTM's sustainable agricultural mentoring program, which aims to increase the productivity and independence of local farmers. The spraying was carried out under the direct supervision of Agricultural Extension Officer Evi Mesah, supported by YNTM field assistant Igi Pinggah, and supervised by YNTM Program Manager Heppy Sastra.

YNTM Program Manager Heppy Sastra explained that this activity was not only technical but also educational for the farmer group.

"We want farmers to understand that spraying is not just a routine activity, but part of proper, measurable, and sustainable garden management to improve harvest yields," explained Heppy Sastra.

Meanwhile, Agricultural Extension Officer Evi Mesah emphasized the importance of collaboration between supporting institutions and farmers at the village level.

"This kind of mentoring helps farmers implement proper agricultural practices. With good collaboration, agricultural yields will be more optimal and sustainable," he said.

Mateos Oenunu, the owner of the plantation and Head of the Hue Penu Farmers Group, expressed his appreciation for the mentoring provided by YNTM and the agricultural extension workers.

"We feel very helped by the presence of the Nusa Timur Mandiri Foundation and the extension workers. This mentoring has made us understand better how to properly care for our plants and gives us hope that our garden yields will increase in the future," said Mateos Oenunu.

YNTM field mentor, Igi Pinggah, added that the active involvement of group members was key to the success of this activity.

"The farmers were very enthusiastic in following every instruction. This is a crucial asset for the sustainable running of the mentoring program," he said.

Through this activity, the Nusa Timur Mandiri Foundation hopes to continue contributing to strengthening food security and improving the welfare of farmers in the North Bikomi District and surrounding areas. (Roman)
